It Begins…The 2026 RI Boys Volleyball Preview…

3/25/26

My goodness…the start of the season is here! Already? Already. Ok ok, got to get my thoughts together…

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 2026 RI Boys Volleyball Season!

My name is Scott. It’s a pleasure to be your free access to the world of high school boys volleyball in the smallest state in the union. Some call me Res, others Coach Reslow, and some even have some colorful language for me…but that tends to be after a match when one of my teams gets a win…details…

Anyway…

This is ResV’s fifth year in existence. The time has flown by and as most know my career has picked back up in the college volleyball world. Coaching for Wheaton College’s new men’s volleyball program has taken up a huge part of my life…rightfully so…however, I’m still eager to cover the sport of volleyball for the boys this year in the ocean state. It should be a good one!

As always, I get information from Coaches, Referees, sometimes the news outlets, sometimes players, and even sometimes parents. I have friends who work the season all over the state, and coaches are encouraged to send me info whenever they like. Also, most of the college coaches in the region are friends of mine (plenty of out of region ones as well)…they also take my All-ResV teams pretty seriously. If an athlete makes an All-ResV team, and they’re not committed already, there will be coaches inquiring…

Lastly, ResV exists to highlight the achievements of the top players in the state. Rhody volleyball is far more impactful then most know… It’s my job to fix that a little.

That is my introduction! Kind of ok, I figure…

And with that, let’s begin…

  1. Flavio Tavares - Sr. - Pin - La Salle Academy - 6’3 : Tavares is a lefty hammer with all the skills to match.

  2. Cal Oberacker - Sr. - Pin - Barrington - 6’3 : Oberacker can fly and will terminate early and often.

  3. Henry Kenyon - Sr. - Middle - Westerly - 6’4 : Physical blocker and can score with the best of them.

  4. Robbie Daniels - Jr. - Setter - Cranston East - 6’0 : Led his team to a ship as a So…Already better and ready to rock.

  5. Andrew Ramos - Sr. - Utility - Bishop Hendricken - 6’4 : Whether pin or middle, you have to account for Mr. Ramos.

ResV Preseason Top 15:

  1. Cranston East - Always starts with giving the Defending Champs the benefit of the doubt. Robbie Daniels will be a premier setter in the league while he’ll have weapons in Jordan Frisone and others.

  2. La Salle Academy - Loaded once again with talent. Led by Flavio Tavares, the Rams will most certainly challenge any team in the state for supremacy.

  3. Bishop Hendricken - Andrew Ramos and company will be looking for another crack at the final four. Coach Harrington is back for another round as the most accomplished coach in the state isn’t ready to hang em up yet.

  4. Barrington - Have arguably the two top pins in the state in Cal Oberacker and Donny Park. That duo will be hard to stop for almost everyone.

  5. North Kingstown - It’s a new look Skipper side. Left side may be the most interesting situation for them as Jaiden Yang will most likely guide them at the setter position and Sean Peters in the middle will be tough to stop. It’s a new world for NK and we’ll see how the Skipper navigate it.

  6. Chariho - The Chargers will be in the mix this year. Led by Landon Marland and Jaxson Vachon, Chariho will be a thorn in most sides, especially when teams have to travel to the cave.

  7. East Greenwich - Take the Avengers for granted at your own peril. They mid-state knights have plenty of pieces to the puzzle and have a coaching staff that is top tier.

  8. Westerly - My preseason pick to win Division Two. The Bulldogs are led by Henry Kenyon who should carve up the league just like his brother did two years ago.

  9. East Providence - The Townies are interesting in that I don’t know much of what they have going on this year thus far. This will undoubtingly change, but for the time being, I’m betting on the EP reputation of tenacity and grit.

  10. Coventry - The Oakers, fresh with a new gym, should have a team that at a minimum will cause some pain for the top 15. Cam Marcotte is very good and should have an excellent season that his team will thrive off of.

  11. Lincoln - Defending D2 Champs will look to repeat with Tyler Biddle leading the way. They did lose their two main pieces, plus some ball control. They also have a new coach as well. Can they hold the other D2 warriors at bay amongst all the changes?

  12. Classical - The Purple will once again be a handful. Led by Ian Nacismento, expect Classical to be the team that no one wants to play…especially in their superior home court advantage gym.

  13. Pawtucket - The Lads from the Bucket return and are looking to get back to the championship round. Coach Bevilacqua has created a top tier machine in Pawtucket and I expect them to just keep rolling.

  14. Cranston West - The CW has more pieces to the puzzle this year. Led by Ashton Mak, who should be a top tier setter in the state…trust the Falcon’s ball control and smart play to pay dividends.

  15. Portsmouth - The Patriots crack the list over Mt. Hope (who won the whole thing last year in D3) basically due to Jack Casey. Casey should be one of the top players in the state and cause havoc in D2 this year.
